Louis XVI Trophy Commode à Vantaux Bronze Mounted Marble Top Lion's Paw Reproduction of Benneman and Stöckel
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This Louis XVI style trophy commode à vantaux is an early 20th century reproduction of a design by Benneman and Stöckel, cabinetmakers to the French court. Its two doors carry gilt bronze trophies of war, and the fluted corner columns are bound with crossed quivers of arrows. Two frieze drawers sit below a serpentine green marble top, and the doors open to an inner shelf. Wood marquetry panels, gilt mounts and lion’s paw feet complete the chest.
