Louis XVI Trophy Commode à Vantaux Bronze Mounted Marble Top Lion's Paw Reproduction of Benneman and Stöckel
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This Louis XVI Style Trophy Commode à Vantaux features Bronze Mounts, a Marble Top, and Lion's Paw Feet as a reproduction of a Benneman and Stöckel design. Benneman was one of Marie-Antoinette’s preferred ébénistes who created splendid and profusely-mounted furniture during the ancien régime for Versailles.
The commode's two doors depict the Trophies of War and it's shoulders represent quivers with arrows. The chest is embellished with gilt bronze details and lions paw and ball feet. The serpentine marble top showcases beautiful green hues. The exterior features two drawers beneath the marble surface, while the interior reveals an inner shelf behind two cabinet doors. This chest boasts fine mahogany wood marquetry. From the early 20th century.
