The maker
Hello, I'm Mary
Originally from Dublin, Ireland and now a Chicago based maker with a passion for furniture and interiors. With a background in graphic design and forever curious, furniture, interior design, materials, and pixels all make me very happy.
Firebird Furniture was founded as an online design & furniture warehouse in Northbrook IL and we made it our mission to source beautiful furnishings and decor for the design obsessed.
Why we do it
Designing out waste
Finely made vintage furniture is often thrown away because of cosmetic flaws or changing tastes, and more waste ends up in landfill. I believe that reinventing, customizing, and refurbishing these pieces is part of designing out waste, keeping good furniture and precious resources in use for longer.
Sometimes it can be as simple as adding a touch of paint, cutting a piece of acrylic sheet, or casting a new shape in resin. Each piece has a history to reveal and a chance at renewal.
Every Newly Painted piece is finished in our spray studio in Northbrook.
Pick one of our colors and we paint the piece for you.
Every piece is checked and detailed before it leaves us.
