Antique Moorish Botafumeiro Reliquary Thurible Censer in Pierced Brass
PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
A thurible is a metal censer suspended from chains in which incense is burned during religious worship services and in various other spiritual or ceremonial traditions.
Constructed in brass, the burner is comprised of two parts: a cylindrical base raised on three lion-footed legs, and a domed lid with a finial. The lid and base are beautifully pierced, with openwork geometrical motifs wrought into its surface. Three chains used to suspend the thurible are attached to the lid.
